The Virus Hero Absolute Rated (AR) pleated cartridge removes bacteria and reduces viruses at a high flow rate - performing like a ceramic filter but with 3-4× the flow. Pair it with a carbon block (like the A1209) for outstanding reduction of E. coli, salmonella, other bacteria, and viruses when sourcing water off the beaten path.

Will this replace my Clearsource VirusGuard filter?
Yes - Clearsource uses standard 2.5"x10" cartridges, so this drops into the VirusGuard (virus/precision) stage of a Clearsource Ultra system.
Do I still need a carbon filter?
For best results, yes - run it with a carbon block like the A1209 so you get both pathogen reduction and chlorine/chemical removal.
Is this an alternative to UV?
Yes - it reduces bacteria and viruses mechanically, with no power, bulbs, or chemicals.
