Our RV water filter canister housings are built of rugged plastic which won't corrode. We have an opaque white canister filter housing and a clear water filter housing which makes it easy to check on your cartridge. However, the clear canister housings will allow for the growth of algae if they are left outside in the light. Read More...
So, if you're going to set up your RV water filter canisters where light is plentiful, use the white. Most of the RV water filter housings we send out now are a newer model from Kemflo or Hydronix that have female threads on the sump (bottom) section of the housing. These are also universal as our older style Pentair brand with male threads on the bottom section. This change has occurred due to Pentair stopping production on this line of canister. Most pictures show the older Pentair model and the newer Kemflo or Hydronix units look basically the same except for the thread configuration. This change affects drinking water filter casings, as well. Kemflo has recently stopped production of clear sumps, so any orders with clear water filter housings will be Hydronix. Our RV water filter canisters and systems are plumbed with 3/4-inch brass fittings to fit standard hoses, and are ready to install. Since these units are fairly large, they cannot be hung from the RVs water inlet port. Some RVers like to mount the canisters inside a storage bay, where they are out of the way, and permanent. The water filter canisters can be placed on their side, upside down, or any other configuration. These RV water filter housings are also easily used outside the RV on the ground, in a container, or hanging under a slide. Our recommendation: no matter how you hook these up externally, keep them out of the sun. This will prevent deterioration of the water filtration canisters and discourage organism growth from excessive heat.
